All about the Day Care…

In the last one week I had more than three parents checking with me about the experiences of sending the child to the day care and the good day care around the area where I live…

All of them who spoke to me were lucky enough to have their parents or in-laws -- taking care of the baby for almost a year…

Now it’s hard for them to leave the baby in the day care and come to work…

Truthfully sending my son to a daycare, we had fun, we are still having fun… in spite of all the tough times we had, there is nothing we could complain about…

So to all Moms who are now in a position to make decisions… Just make sure you find a good school/day care…

Go visit the facility… Talk to parents who already do this… you will get an idea of what to expect and what not to…

Check how the teachers are… the teachers are more important because they are the one, your child is going to be all day… do a good research…

Visit the facility in the evening… the time when most parents will be picking up their kids… Talk to couple them… they will be more than willing to tell a honest opinion about how they feel… That will really help…

Here is the listing of few schools around this area – area around Schaumburg, IL...

I have heard good things about all the schools below… I am not giving you a guarantee about any school… I am just saying that I have not heard anything really bad about any of them…

Do your own research. It’s your child and you know what’s best for him/her.

After you choose a day care…
§ Get in touch with parents whose kids are in the same class as your child is in.
§ No one drops/picks at the same time everyday. So when you drop/pick up your kid, look around and see what other kids are doing… If you have any concerns tell the parent…
§ Request the parents of other kids to check your child when they drop/pick up…
§ Have a play date with the day care kids… This will help you to keep in touch with the parents…
§ Maintain a good relationship with the teachers in the class… Teachers are so important… Because they are the one who is going to be with the child all day…
§ Teachers are humans too… Treat them with respect…
§ If you feel happy about the teacher, tell them right away… a heart-felt appreciation will go a long way…
§ If you need someone to baby-sit your child for few hours during weekends – check with your day care teacher if she could come over... This will help too…
§ If you are having a Birthday party and inviting all the kids in the day care… don’t forget to invite the teacher… Even if they don’t attend, they will feel happy that you invited them…
§ Keep checking with the teacher how your child does in school…

Those are few things which really helped me… You are most welcome to put in your comments…

Thank You… & Happy Parenting…

Something uncommon...

How many times do you get into that ‘not so common’ mode...?

I have heard, many people say that many times… even me… I get into that quite often...

When choosing a name… we try to find the ‘not so common’ one …, when getting a dress… - not so common color.... when buying something for the home… - not so common stuff…

Once I was telling a friend of mine – when she was looking for a check-in baggage for an international travel -- to get a color which is ‘not so common’… she found a yellowish-orange-ish one... And she is so happy having that…she feels it’s so easy to find the box in the baggage area...

Talking about uncommon goods… I was curious to know if there was any website to find things that are uncommon… to my surprise, I found a site http://www.uncommongoods.com...

We all have a preconceived notion about things around us and people around us… it’s always a pleasant surprise to see / hear nice things that are different and unusual… It does appeal to the senses at least for while… …

Get out of the routine once in a while… and find something new to do… that you have never done before…something unusual… something uncommon… You sure will Enjoy, for a while at least...…

Kids and Kid Songs

Do you remember those childhood golden days… when life was just filled with simple pleasures… when you always had your mom and dad around to fulfill your wishes… when you used to feel happy to show that you could sing a song… and sprinkle smiles on people around you…

And now when you are a parent, you wanted your kids to do as much as you did and enjoyed…right? I am no way different…

I and my husband were blessed with a sweet little bundle of joy in 2004… and my brother had one too… just 75 days before…

Now the cousins are five years old… they live close by and are having a great time growing up together… Everyone enjoys watching them…

Yesterday I picked up my nephew from school and took to our home and my son was waiting for him…

As Christmas is around… every kid who goes to school learn a song…

My son and my nephew learnt a song too… When they saw each other their eyes gleamed… They couldn’t wait…

One said … hey I sang a song today in school… you want to listen… the other one said… Me too… I want to sing first…

I really don’t know how they managed to take turns… But both were singing... singing... singing…

It was so wonderful to watch them… Music is such a beautiful thing to experience…

All kids love singing songs... I think it’s because of the responses they get…

Whenever my son sings a song, I used to open my eyes wide and give a big expression to brighten him up... and he loves to please me...:-)

I always wanted to teach him as many songs as possible… so… was searching for lyrics and came across this simple, neat and clean website… check it out… http://kidsongs.wordpress.com/

Enjoy with your little ones… and even for the grown ups… this would bring back all the childhood memories…

Simple pleasures in life… enJOY!

Managing receipts...

Have you ever been in search of something…? I have been… in fact everyday… in search of things at home :)…

I was looking for something yesterday and found a zip top bag… zip top bag full of receipts… dated 2007, 2008…

I remember the day I put them in… yet another day when I was trying to organize my receipts… I put a bunch in a zip top bag and put it in the draw and eventually stuffed lot of other things in it... And the zip top bag found a place behind the draw to rest… and yesterday I woke him up…

The reason I didn’t add more zip top bags because, shortly after that I got a beautiful box to hold my receipts and kept in my kitchen so that I can stuff it with all the receipts as long as it chocked…:)

Yesterday, I opened the box and realized that it was struggling to breathe… and the time to save its life had come…

I and my husband started cleaning it and shredding whatever we didn’t need…

Next time when I purchase something…I need to think… make a conscious effort to organize them…

Step 1: I need to find a place for it… A place for everything and everything in its place…

Step 2: I need to categorize them. Clip the
 Grocery receipts, restaurant receipts etc together,
 Other things - things that has a possibility to get back to the store, - small appliances etc…
 Business receipts if any…
 Large priced items receipts,
 Everything else … there is always miscellaneous category :)

Step 3: Discard them when I am sure I don’t need them and keep the one I need in a safe place.

And now I set some rules – and I hope to follow :)
1. Check every day/week if my bank has charged the right amount to my account. Esp. the grocery receipts and shred them. I don’t need them since I must have consumed most of them by now.
2. Scan the large priced Item and keep the bills in a separate box/bag and label them – I hardly have such receipts now… and if at all I have I need to do it.
3. Put the business receipts together… if at all I have one I need to claim…
4. Misc. receipts – Decide now and either keep it safely or let it go…

To my friends who knows me and who visits me often: Don’t look at me that way… I am trying to be spic and span… I am making an attempt to do that…

You will see my home, neat as a new pin soon…:) First Step… making an effort… :) simple step isn’t it… I am just doing that… :) and if you have any tips, please share it with me…

If any of you have the same issues… try to take that simple step… and may be you will move faster than you expected towards achieving it and if you are not able to manage it… No worries… May be some super power will help you some day…

Hey Technology!!!… Is there any brain somewhere in someplace thinking about this…? As paper money has been replaced with plastic money… are we all going to have days where the paper receipts are replaced by something… virtual…?

Who knows…? May be my son will not deal with those clutters when he grows up… or may be the day will come soon that even I don’t have to deal with it… Simple!!!

And it’s always SIMPLE when someone else does the work, isn’t it???
see ya...

First light...

Have you ever seen the crack of the dawn? Sitting by the window and looking at the world waking up…

Feeling blessed to live in this world yet another day… Admiring the beauty of your coffee mug and sipping in style… that few seconds is simply heavenly…

Then picking up the pace…

Thinking about the days work… and how fast you should be… but still taking that few minutes to slow down yourself… and starting the day with such a exuberant calmness…

I say exuberant calmness… becos that calmness will generate so much energy in you… will stir the positive vibe and that will come out with so much force…

That force will pull you thru the day…

Have you ever experienced it? … If not, you should…

Simply few seconds and then… the sounds will get louder, the roads will get crowded, and the time will move faster, the errands will get higher…

Get energized … the tainted world is looking at you…

Move on… Simply move on… slide thru it… smoothly… without hurting anyone and NOT hurting you …

Simply doing what needs to be done… to move forward… to climb a step higher…

Simply move towards leading a simple, neat, clean, fresh, pleasant, radiant, dazzling life …

Simply Smile… will travel again with you soon…
